Inception of a Microcar Cyril Cannell, a British engineer known for his inventive and rather strange ideas, was the man behind the P50. Cannell aimed to design a car that was as fuel-efficient and small as possible during the post-war austerity of the 1950s, when space was limited and fuel was expensive.
